Everton: David Moyes could be worried by Friedkin Group after new Roma tensions in Italy

David Moyes will be hoping that Everton’s summer window can continue to improve the Toffees, but developments out of Roma could worry him.

A season in European football could be around the corner for Everton, and they will need to have a deeper squad to deal with the increase in games.

This season, there are quite a few fringe players who are not trusted to play, and providing the Scotsman with better options is a must.

However, the Friedkins’ transfer decisions at Roma do not paint a good picture for Moyes and Everton ahead of the window.

What has happened at AS Roma?

Tensions between AS Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini and the Friedkin Group have been growing based on the most recent winter transfer window.

It appears that the two parties had a different understanding of what type of players the Serie A club should have signed.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Roma manager Gasperini has been left unimpressed with the transfer decisions made by the Friedkin Group.

The information from the outlet shares that Gasperini was requesting that the Yellow and Reds purchase players who were already experienced and could make an immediate impact in the Italian capital.

However, the Friedkin Group continued to invest in under-24 players as the Rome-based club fights for Champions League qualification.

At Everton, this is a situation that must be avoided at all costs. Moyes and the Friedkin Group must be fully aligned on transfer targets this summer.

Or else, the Toffees could end up with plenty of players signed for big fees that, frankly, may not get many minutes.

Which positions do Everton need to target?

Everton could have a major overhaul if European football is secured for next season.

Moyes will already know which areas of his squad he needs to improve, with a new centre-forward being the obvious department.

Additionally, with Michael Keane’s contract coming to an end, Seamus Coleman being in the same boat, Nathan Patterson untrusted and Adam Aznou barely featuring, there will be quite the defensive shake-up.

The Toffees will likely need at least one central defender as well as two fullbacks, one for each side.

Dwight McNeil could also be heading out the door, and with no confirmation on whether Jack Grealish will stay in Merseyside next season, the wide attacking areas will also need reinforcements.

It will be a busy summer for the Hill Dickinson club, and that is why it is ever so important that everyone from the manager to the transfer department and up to the owners is all on the same page.
