Everton must avoid falling into Beto trap after brace vs Chelsea

Everton should still have no intentions to keep Beto beyond the current campaign.

The Toffees still have a huge chance of qualifying for Europe ahead of the last seven games of the season, and should they achieve that feat, many will look back at the win over Chelsea.

Everton secured a 3-0 victory over Liam Rosenior’s side, courtesy of a brace from Beto and a tidy finish from Iliman Ndiaye to make sure of all three points.

It was only Beto’s sixth goal of the season in the Premier League, and without a doubt one of his best performances in an Everton shirt, as showcased by his Sofascore graphic below.

However, with Beto’s future at Hill Dickinson still uncertain, the Toffees cannot fall into the trap that has caught several clubs out over the last few years.

Beto exit is still on the cards at Everton

It was only last season when Beto went on an incredible run for the Toffees, making it look as though he was finally going to become the striker they had been crying out for.

That form quickly dried up, and he reverted to his usual ways of being a nuisance up top, and not for opposition defenders.

And after his brace against Chelsea, there is every chance that the confidence he gets from that performance could see a huge improvement in his goal return over the next few games, but that should still not deter them from moving him on.

Beto has shown time and time again that he does not have the level of consistency needed in his game, with the Toffees still in need of a new striker to replace him this summer.

Who could Beto join in summer?

Beto will have just one year left on his deal at Everton come the end of the season, and with a new deal unlikely, it feels as though an exit is nailed on.

Fenerbahce have been linked with his services, having also been mooted with an interest in the 28-year-old in the winter transfer window.

For his own sake, a move abroad would certainly benefit Beto the most, given the qualities that he does have to offer, which are very rarely afforded the time to shine in the Premier League.
