Nathan Patterson may be fighting for his career at Everton amid a call-up to the Scotland national team.

Steve Clarke could use the right-back for the March friendlies against Japan and Cote d’Ivoire, giving him an opportunity to shine on the international stage.

The 24-year-old has made just six Premier League appearances for the Toffees this season and he may have a chance to change David Moyes’ mind with Scotland.

Patterson seemed to have a future in the Merseyside outfit’s defence when he first signed for them from Rangers, but injuries have hampered his development.

It now feels like the Scot’s future lies away from Hill Dickinson Stadium unless he pulls off something special in the coming months to change minds in L4 before the end of the season.
