Everton fans set for familiar feeling as Manchester City fixture date shifted

Everton‘s Premier League clash with Manchester City in early May has been shifted for television coverage.

The Toffees had been due to face the reigning champions at Hill Dickinson Stadium on 2 May, although that was always subject to change.

And it has now been confirmed via both Everton themselves and Sky Sports that the game will be broadcast live on a new date of 4 May.

It is worth noting that is across a Bank Holiday weekend, meaning travel plans may be further disrupted for those attending.

While David Moyes’ more immediate focus will be on Everton’s clash with Brentford in two weeks’ time, the Man City fixture moving to a Monday will be a familiar feeling to Toffees fans.

Everton fans more accustomed to Monday games than any other side

Everton’s clash with Man City will now take place on a Monday night under the Hill Dickinson Stadium lights.

The fact it is over a Bank Holiday weekend should help to further generate a superb atmosphere once again, just like in Everton’s 3-0 win over Chelsea last week.

Fixture Original Date & Time Updated Date & Time Status

However, this fixture changing with around a month’s notice will cause an inconvenience to many supporters attending the match.

Monday night games are never ideal, but it is something Everton have become accustomed to as one of the Premier League’s biggest sides not competing in European football – something that will hopefully soon change.

Indeed, Everton have played more matches on the first day of the week than any side in Premier League history, with 95 in total.

West Ham, of a similar stature to Everton, are second on the list with 93.

For what it’s worth, the Toffees have a pretty mixed record across those fixtures down the years, having won 29, drawn 31 and lost 35.

What does Everton’s fixture list now look like?

After a welcome break from action, Everton will be thrown right into the action with five games in the space of around four weeks.

David Moyes’ side take on Brentford on 11 April, before then hosting Liverpool eight days later.

There is then a trip to Moyes’ former side West Ham on 25 April and that visit of Man City, which is now nine days later.

A trip to Crystal Palace concludes that fairly hectic spell, at which point Everton will know for sure where they stand in terms of the battle for European football.
