Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been worth every £2.7m Everton have paid per goal contribution
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has cost Everton £2.7million per goal contribution this season, but that’s been money well spent by The Friedkin Group.
With just seven games to go in their Premier League season, Everton are making their strongest push for European football in many years.
Dewsbury-Hall is right at the spearpoint of that, with his summer signing from Chelsea being one of the pound for pound deals of the season.
As such, Toffees fans were disappointed to see the 27-year-old not included in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the March internationals, and thus also looks a doubt to be on the plane for the World Cup too.
Tuchel may come to regret that, but Everton certainly won’t have any regrets over their financial investment in Dewsbury-Hall last August.

Everton’s cost per Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall goal involvement
Dewsbury-Hall has credited David Moyes for his excellent debut season with Everton, but the midfielder deserves to take a lot of the praise too.
There were some serious doubts over his signing on Merseyside, as after all, he did only play 13 times in the Premier League for Chelsea last season, scoring no goals and providing one assist.
| Dewsbury-Hall 25-26 Premier League stats | Result |
|---|---|
| Team of the week inclusions | 3 |
| Goal conversion | 20% |
| Big chances created | 8 |
| Key passes per game | 1.1 |
| Dribble success | 58% |
| Errors leading to goals | 0 |
However, all of those fears have been vanquished at Hill Dickinson Stadium, as he’s established himself as an essential node in Everton’s attack, operating largely in the number 10 role.
Upon signing for Everton in this season’s summer window, it was reported by Sky Sports among others that Dewsbury-Hall had cost the Toffees an initial £25m, with add-ons that could take it to a maximum package of around £29m.
So, with six goals and three assists to his name this term, that means that his nine goal contributions divided by the £25m initial fee brings out a total of £2.7m per goal involvement.

For the impact he’s had on this Everton team, the connection he’s built playing ahead of James Garner and Idrissa Gueye and the fact he could well help the team reach Europe, that’s a price that feels absolutely worth it.
That’s not considering the likelihood that Everton would turn a considerable profit on him if he was to be sold this summer, as there has been talk of a potential big-money move for him in the near future.
Dewsbury-Hall should take England spirit from Garner
In regards to a potential transfer exit for him, Dewsbury-Hall shouldn’t feel as though he needs to go chasing a switch to a top club.
He’s seen his midfield mate in Garner receive his first England call-up for the March friendlies, and it’s only due to the sheer volume of strength in depth in central and attacking midfield that he’s missed out.
But, the very fact that Garner has got the call whilst playing for Everton should inform him that there is a pathway to the Three Lions squad at Hill Dickinson Stadium, which can often be a big driver behind transfers if that’s not the case for a player.

He will hopefully also feel a real sense of obligation to remain loyal to the Toffees and Moyes, as it was them who believed he could not just be a starter in the Premier League, but an instrumental one at that.
Certainly if Everton do finish in the European places this season, then he’d surely have just about everything he’d be looking for on Merseyside.
