Everton set for greatest feat of season vs Brentford as perfect timing lines up

Everton could be in for their biggest win of the season against Brentford, with Keith Andrews’ side currently slipping.

The Toffees are currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League, which would automatically qualify them for the Europa Conference League, depending on other English clubs’ success in Europe this term.

David Moyes‘ side will travel to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday to end their long hiatus from league football and come up against their European competitors, Brentford.

The Bees are strong at home, but the same can be said about the Blues’ form on the road, with the current feeling at Hill Dickinson a good one.

Andrews will be worried with his side’s form heading into the game, and Everton can capitalise to take another step towards Europe.

Everton could get their biggest win of season as Brentford form dips

The Everton squad are confident that they can achieve a spot in Europe this season, but know the job is far from done yet.

Brentford are winless in their last four games and have won just once in six in all competitions. The Bees were knocked out of the FA Cup earlier in March, so pressure is on Andrews to deliver something to his supporters.

As seen in the table above, Brentford have conceded 20 more shots than they have taken themselves in their last four games.

They have also conceded a total of 6.62 expected goals in that period, and are underperforming their own xG by 2.43.

That suggests that opponents are having success in finding openings against Brentford right now, as Andrews’ side is lacking in confidence in front of goal.

Goal difference could matter at the end of the season, too, as Everton currently sit behind Brentford, despite being level on 46 points.

Brentford home record vs Everton away record

Brentford are showing Everton that it is possible to make a new stadium in Hill Dickinson a fortress, as their own ground, Gtech Community Stadium, has become something of a place to fear this season.

The Bees only moved into their new London venue in 2021, but have settled into life quickly, pushing on for Europe despite a smaller budget than most Premier League sides.

As seen in the graphic above, the Toffees have won seven games on the road, which is the same amount that the Bees have won on their own turf.

Brentford do tend to score at home, boasting a current 1.73 goals scored per 90. However, Moyes will have confidence that his side can do it, with Everton fourth in the rankings for the league’s best side away from home.
