Everton fans to fume if Friedkin Group back out of Kevin Pedro and Guela Doue deals

Everton could potentially be priced out of signing Saint-Etienne defender Kevin Pedro and Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue in the upcoming transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail on 9 April, the Toffees could find the possible fees for the duo prohibitive as they monitor their situation in France.

It feels like The Friedkin Group are trying to avoid spending a significant sum on reinforcements at the Blues in the summer again, which will surely leave fans in L3 fuming.

With Seamus Coleman’s future at Hill Dickinson Stadium uncertain, Nathan Patterson struggling for minutes and Jake O’Brien playing out of position, it’s clear that the Merseyside outfit should prioritise bolstering their backline in the coming months.

David Moyes should demand funds from Dan Friedkin to drastically improve squad depth for the 2026-27 campaign, especially if the Scottish manager achieves European qualification.

David Moyes to make argument for double Kevin Pedro and Guela Doue transfer

Pedro has shone at Saint-Etienne since the turn of the year, cementing his place in the Ligue 2 outfit’s starting lineup as they push for promotion.

The 20-year-old France Under-19 international can play as a right-back or centre-back and has shown strong potential in recent months.

As for Doue, he has been a regular for Strasbourg for a few years now, scoring two goals and providing six assists in Ligue 1 this season.

The 23-year-old right-back and Pedro could both help the Merseyside outfit next season if Coleman and Patterson end up leaving, and it would make sense to sign them both to have a squad strong enough to compete on all fronts.

Everton need more numbers at the back

Vitalii Mykolenko’s deal at Everton also expires in June, leaving Moyes with a lack of options at full-back.

Adam Aznou has also failed to convince the Scottish manager since moving from Bayern Munich and the Toffees should prioritise defensive reinforcements in the summer.

Michael Keane will also be a free agent soon unless the Blues extend his stay at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

While Moyes has brought excitement back into the fanbase, TFG’s reluctance to spend will surely be detrimental for the Merseysiders.
