Everton: I couldn’t have been more wrong about Beto, Brentford should run scared
Everton have had some surprises this season, and Beto has impressed recently, and I think Brentford have a big problem in trying to defend him this Saturday.
The Toffees face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium this weekend, with both sides level on 46 points and looking for a huge victory.
Keith Andrews’ side is hoping to book their spot in a European competition next season, but David Moyes also has plans to do the same with Beto, one of his weapons for the game.
The striker scored a brace for the Toffees in their 3-0 win over Chelsea before the break, and Moyes will be hoping that his number nine hasn’t lost his touch in front of goal already.
I thought Beto was finished at Everton, and in a turn of events, I think he could be the key to victory against the Bees.

This is why I thought Beto was done for at Everton
Beto was linked to Juventus in the winter window, as the Serie A side had a loan move for the forward rejected, which left me questioning the decision of both clubs.
Thierno Barry was hitting form at that time, and Moyes was in the market for a new number nine, but wasn’t able to land one.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Matches (starts) | 31 (12) |
| Shots | 32 |
| Goals | 6 |
| xG | 6.83 |
| FotMob rating | 6.45 |
As seen by Beto’s FotMob stats in the league this season, Beto is still underperforming his xG rate by 0.83, despite a brace against Chelsea.
The 28-year-old has an average rating of 6.45, which demonstrates just how poor he has been for the season, but he may be hitting at the right time.
We know how hard Beto likes to work, and Moyes called the striker’s work rate “amazing”, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo in November, and it’s something that can be used to beat Brentford.

Let’s just hope the Guinea-Bissau star can continue his form, because we know how dangerous he can be when his confidence is up.
Why Beto will be even more useful next season
Beto could even make himself a cult hero if he manages to keep going, especially considering the doom and gloom around the striker debacle not too long ago.
If he does carry momentum into the Brentford game, then hopes of European qualification will start to look even more like a reality.
If the Blues were to make it into Europe, Moyes would have to use the depths of his squad to maintain player fitness.
We know how streaky Beto can be, and given that Moyes does drop the forward for lengthy spells, an extra competition could be perfect for the former Udinese man.
