Everton: Paul Merson amazed by Caoimhin Kelleher heroics but not enough for Brentford
Everton battled back to draw 2-2 in an entertaining game with Brentford, but Paul Merson was amazed by a “brilliant” Caoimhin Kelleher moment.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored in the closing seconds after Igor Thiago had netted either side of Beto’s first-half leveller.
Everton’s point keeps them level with Brentford in the table and still very much in the hunt for European football.
Kelleher was beaten twice from the five Everton attempts on target, but he also kept his side ahead in the first half prior to Beto’s leveller.
Merson was certainly impressed as he offered his thoughts during Everton’s draw with Brentford.

Idrissa Gueye denied by fine Caoimhin Kelleher save
Everton will feel they were good value for their point at the Gtech Community Stadium, even if they were seconds from defeat.
David Moyes‘ men held on in there and delivered a sucker-punch to their opponents with time near enough up.

Beto was Everton’s best player against Brentford, albeit Dewsbury-Hall is the man who will take the plaudits for his late leveller.
The Everton forward converted in the first half and perhaps could have had another, but it was Idrissa Gueye who should have done more.
If not for a fine Kelleher stop, the back of the net would have russled.
Reacting to the former Liverpool goalkeeper’s save, Merson said on Sky Sports News: “Kelleher made the save, a brilliant save.
“Dewsbury-Hall plays a brilliant ball in that Beto is inches away from. It gets recycled and cleared to Gueye, who shoots. It’s a brilliant save. It comes to Beto and another save, though he was offside.”

Kelleher’s save ultimately mattered for little given Everton snatched a point in a game they twice fought back in.
Jordan Pickford racking up conceded penalties
As the graphic above shows, Jordan Pickford made a couple of saves for Everton but also conceded a couple.
He was at fault for the first of Thiago’s goals, with the Brazil international converting a very early penalty in West London.
Pickford took down his man in the box, with that the sixth penalty he has conceded for Everton in the Premier League.

Only Jose Sa (eight) has conceded more among goalkeepers in the competition since Pickford’s debut in the competition for Everton in 2017.
Only Bernd Leno (35), meanwhile, has conceded more penalty goals (27) across that same period of time.
