Seamus Coleman’s Everton future could rest on two divergent fates after David Moyes plea
Seamus Coleman could decide to hang up his Everton boots this summer, but it may entirely depend on the success of the Toffees this season.
The loved skipper has been on Merseyside for too many years to remember, but nobody wants his story to end with the Blues.
The 37-year-old has only made five appearances this season, but was out for a couple of months due to injury, meaning there is a chance he could have a final year in blue where he hasn’t featured as much as he’d like to.
David Moyes loves the Irishman, and the latter is seen as a back-up option, but he could see more playing chances next season.
Everton’s potential European qualification could keep Coleman around another year, and that’s what the Toffees and Moyes want.

What has David Moyes said about Seamus Coleman’s future?
If Everton’s season were to fizzle out into another nothing campaign, Coleman may think that he’s done all that he can for the Blues, and with nothing new to look forward to, he could call it a day.
However, if the Blues do manage to find themselves in Europe, whether that the the Champions League or Conference League, that could entice the right-back to play one more final season.
| Area | Stats/Info |
| Transfer | Sligo Rovers – Everton (2009) |
| Fee | £60,000 |
| Appearances | 433 |
| Goals | 28 |
| Assists | 26 |
It’s hard to imagine that Coleman would want to walk away from Hill Dickinson the year he gets a good chance of winning silverware and going out even more of a legend than he already is.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Moyes is adamant that he wants the veteran defender to stay, and will ask for him to remain on his coaching staff in the event that he does hang up the boots.

Qualification for Europe would give Coleman one final reason for another season, and on top of this, he would see his game time improve, with the need for squad depth.
Who could Everton replace Coleman with?
It’s a sad idea to think about, but Coleman is going to be replaced by another right-back soon.
Whoever walks through the doors at Finch Farm next will have big shoes to fill, and they will be under the microscope from Blues fans.
One player that Everton have been linked with is Sheffield United star Femi Seriki, who could be available for cheap with less than 12 months left on his deal at Bramall Lane this summer.

Another Emil Holm, who despite snubbing the Toffees for Juventus in the winter window, is failing to get game time, as another move for the on-loan Swedish star could be on the cards.
Either way, a first-team addition will be needed to allow Jake O’Brien to play in his natural position, leaving the centre-back as cover alongside Coleman on the right side of defence.
