Alan Shearer sends Liverpool an Everton warning as David Moyes at heart of ‘brilliant’ story
Alan Shearer thinks that Liverpool have a difficult task in beating Everton on Sunday, with David Moyes‘ brilliance guiding them in the Premier League this season.
The Toffees are well and truly in the race for a spot in European football, and could even finish higher than their Merseyside rivals in the Premier League.
Arne Slot’s men are just five points ahead of the Blues in fifth place, occupying the final Champions League spot, but a first visit to the Hill Dickinson may prove tricky.
Moyes’ side drew 2-2 with their European competitors, Brentford, last weekend, and all things considered, it could be a good result when it’s all said and done.
Everton will be a hard challenge for Liverpool, and one that Shearer may be looking forward to.

Alan Shearer says David Moyes in for manager of season award
Everton are set for a big tifo display against Liverpool, as Hill Dickinson could see its best atmosphere yet.
The Toffees’ win over Chelsea was arguably the loudest the stadium has sounded this season, but a result against Liverpool could top it.

Everton lost 2-1 to Liverpool in the earlier fixture at Anfield this season, but even then, Moyes found out some of the Reds’ weaknesses.
While speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer was discussing Liverpool’s week ahead, with a second leg Champions League fixture followed by the Merseyside derby, which he suggested will be difficult for the visitors.
He also mentioned how Brentford’s Keith Andrews is in the conversation for manager of the season, along with the Everton boss.
Shearer said: “It’s a big week ahead for Liverpool. Tuesday, PSG, and then away to Everton on the weekend, and Everton are having a brilliant season.

“Both managers [Moyes and Andrews] are in with a shout of winning manager of the season. If they were to get into sixth, it would be an unbelievable achievement for Everton or Brentford. Incredible, outstanding from both of them.”
It’s fair to say Shearer wouldn’t be surprised if Everton pulled off a result this weekend, as Liverpool could be in for a major shock.
Liverpool are papering over cracks; Everton are not
Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 at home last weekend, picking up three points against a side that has nothing to play for.
When it really mattered for the Reds, they haven’t always shown up when they need to most this season, as three wins in their last nine paint the picture.
Everton have been consistent all season; they do drop points and lose, but their identity will never fade. It will mean everything to Moyes, the players, and fans to beat Slot’s side on Sunday, and it’s very much possible.
