Everton urged to open contract talks with David Moyes immediately, two year deal on cards

Everton could now open talks over a new contract for David Moyes.

The Scot returned last season and has helped to turn the Toffees around and drag them away from the relegation battle.

European qualification is now a real aim and desire at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a place in the Europa League or Conference League remaining within reach.

Achieving that would only further prove how good the 62-year-old has been on Merseyside across two spells.

Moyes could now land a new deal on Merseyside, with an extension potentially in the pipeline in L3.

There aren’t many better managers in recent memory who have helped the Toffees to success consistently.

He may have struggled at Manchester United and Sunderland, but he has silenced any doubters throughout his spells with Everton and West Ham.

The Hammers have only gone downhill since sacking the Scot, handing the Merseysiders a perfect opportunity to bring him back.

Moyes has thrived since coming in at Goodison, and now, former colleague Bryan King has urged Everton to secure his future for many years to come.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “Everton have had a great season.

“Moyes has taken them from a team that was fighting relegation to one that could get into Europe.

“That is no mean feat for a manager.

“He’s waiting to see if he’ll get a contract extension, and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t.

“Moyes is made for Everton, and he’s proven that. He’s got good staff behind him, and it would be foolish to disrupt it now.

“I’d give him another two years, and they need to start those conversations now.”

Moyes is picking up rave reviews at Everton and needs his success to be rewarded and incentivised to keep it going for years to come.

What is Moyes’ current contract situation at Everton?

The former Real Sociedad boss came in to replace Sean Dyche in January 2025 and penned a two and a half year deal in the process.

He has proven his qualities in that time with an upturn in form and several excellent signings on Merseyside.

Moyes is paid a reported yearly salary of around £5million until the summer of 2027, but that could be set for a rise if the Toffees put fresh terms on the table.

King wants another two years of the Scot at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and that could be the inspiration for the Blues to finish the season with a flourish.
