Tyrique George: Everton departure sealed as David Moyes ally highlights manager trait

Tyrique George looks unlikely to join Everton permanently in the summer.

The England under-21 international signed for the Toffees in the summer on an initial loan deal from Chelsea, with the option to buy attached.

He has gone on to play a bit-part role on Merseyside, as the winger has often found himself as second or third choice in the squad.

That hasn’t necessarily come as a surprise, but questions still remain over the future of the 20-year-old at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It now looks as if George will depart Everton for good in the summer and won’t make his L3 switch a permanent one.

David Moyes quality to force Tyrique George out

The Blues head coach has always been known for having his particular favourites, and that has continued into his latest spell on Merseyside.

That has been on show with Dwight McNeil as he has remained a regular, even after his deadline day move to Crystal Palace fell through.

George has been left to watch from the bench as the ex-Burnley man starts regularly and fails to contribute much in the way of goals and assists.

Former Everton scout and ally of David Moyes, Bryan King, has suggested that the manager has always stuck by certain players and isn’t going to change that for the Chelsea loanee.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “You’ve got to question why Chelsea would let George go in the first place.

“I think Everton brought him in because they needed bodies through the door.

“There are other players who have stood up to be counted, like McNeil recently.

“He sticks by people who put in effort and performances for him; that’s one of Moyes’ traits.

“I just don’t think he’ll rotate players at this stage of the season.

“I can’t see them signing George permanently, to be honest.”

The writing is on the wall for George at Everton, and it looks increasingly likely that he’ll be on the move elsewhere in the summer.

George hasn’t proved his worth at Everton

A loan signing, particularly in January, has to grab the bull by the horns and prove exactly why they deserve to be signed permanently.

That hasn’t been the case for the Chelsea youngster, who hasn’t really impressed in the limited minutes afforded to him.

He has played a part off the bench at times, but has yet to pick up a single goal involvement since his move to Merseyside.

That doesn’t bode well moving into a summer window where the Toffees could be in need of fresh faces ahead of a potential European campaign.

George is unlikely to be one of those and will now be on the lookout for his next move away from Stamford Bridge.
