Everton: Arne Slot proves his delusion already as pre-match comments show derby-day nerves

Everton fans will laugh as Arne Slot seems to believe that the crowd at Goodison Park last season didn’t affect him, while speaking ahead of Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

The Liverpool head coach will have to face the music at Hill Dickinson this Sunday as the Toffees host the Reds in a historic Merseyside derby on the Banks of the Royal Mersey.

David Moyes is full of confidence heading into the clash, and rightly so, with the Blues ambitious of achieving a spot in European football.

Liverpool are only five points ahead of Moyes’ side, but the current trajectory of the visitors may be something that appeals to Evertonians.

Everton could get a big win against Liverpool this weekend and laugh at Slot for the rest of the season.

Arne Slot spat his dummy out last time vs Everton

Everton have had some heavy wins over Liverpool in the past, and will be looking for revenge after a 2-1 defeat at Anfield earlier in the campaign.

The Blues have won this fixture just six times since the start of the 2000’s, but a seventh victory could be the sweetest of them all.

Some of Everton’s biggest Merseyside derby wins, as per Soccer Base

The last time Everton hosted the Reds, they were able to close the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park with a bang, as James Tarkowski thumped in a stoppage-time winner.

Slot was enraged at the time, as it’s clear that the Blues and their fans got under his skin the entire game, but speaking ahead of this showdown, he says that’s not the case.

Slot said: “The crowd didn’t affect me last season; the refereeing decisions affected me. I don’t think a stadium is loud; it’s usually the fans who are loud. Our fans will be loud.”

As seen in the hilarious clip above, Slot lost his marbles when Tarkowski powered in, and was even given a red card for his pathetic behaviour.

Hopefully, Everton can wind up more Liverpool fans this weekend with a big result.

Alexander Isak needs to be watched; he could play possum

With Hugo Eikitike’s injury bringing his season to an end, Slot will have to rely on Alexander Isak to finally find his form.

The Swedish striker joined the Reds from Newcastle this summer in a record-breaking deal, but they’ve yet to see anything of his price tag translate into games.

The former Newcastle star played 45 minutes against PSG midweek, and will almost certainly be in from the off against Everton.

It’s unlikely that Isak will play the entire game, but while he’s on the pitch, Everton’s centre-backs can’t lose any concentration.

Liverpool are struggling in front of goal right now and frustrating their key players in the final third. will be the path to victory.
