Everton have pitch disadvantage as Jamie Carragher predicts scoreline vs Liverpool
Everton could have a tough time closing down Liverpool at Hill Dickinson Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday.
That’s what Jamie Carragher believes, as he feels the size of the pitch in L3 compared to Goodison Park means they can’t get after the opposition as much.
The new stadium is set to host its first Merseyside derby on 19 April and the former English defender has predicted a narrow 1-0 or 2-0 victory for the Reds.
Carragher feels Goodison Park was a much better place for the Toffees to impose themselves on their opponents, which may be slightly difficult at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
David Moyes faces an under-pressure Arne Slot on home turf and the Scottish manager will surely be confident about getting something out of the game in the Blues’ quest for European qualification.

Everton have Hill Dickinson Stadium record initiative vs Liverpool
Moyes hasn’t been able to win three home games in a row this season, raising slight concerns among the fanbase.
The Toffees’ record at Hill Dickinson Stadium hasn’t been the best, but they have won their last two games in L3 against Burnley and Chelsea.
Now, the Blues have an opportunity to win three in a row at home for the first time at their new ground, but the Merseyside derby is a tough test to pull off that feat.
| Everton wins | Draws | Liverpool wins |
| 41 | 38 | 41 |
Nonetheless, the Scottish manager has the opportunity to go sixth in the table with a victory and wouldn’t want to miss that chance, with just a few matches left in the season.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo on 18 April, Carragher said, “And I know they have done that brilliantly at the new stadium, it’s really steep, the fans are on top of you, but it’s nothing like Goodison.
“But I just think the size of the pitch means that you can’t get after the opposition as much and that’s what the derby is for Everton. You imagine Liverpool on the ball and Everton trying to win it and get the crowd going. And I just think there’s a lot of space on that pitch.”
David Moyes has obvious game-changer against Arne Slot
Iliman Ndiaye has been mooted as a target for Liverpool, and it isn’t surprising to see, considering the Everton attacker’s quality.

Despite the animosity between the two supporters, the Reds could undoubtedly do with someone of the former Olympique Marseille star’s quality at Anfield, especially now that Mohamed Salah is about to leave.
Fans in L3 would definitely like to think that Ndiaye wouldn’t cross the city divide and continue with them for at least another season before the Blues decide to cash in.
The 26-year-old clearly has the quality to make a difference in the Merseyside derby and contribute to possibly jubilant scenes at full-time on what could be a monumental evening for the Toffees.
