Everton decision proven right as Beto finally outperforms Dominic Calvert-Lewin in Premier League
Everton decided to stand by Beto rather than Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.
The England international brought his nine-year association with the Toffees to an end as his contract expired on Merseyside.
He eventually sealed a free transfer switch to Leeds United, where he has gone on to have an excellent goalscoring campaign in the Premier League.
The Merseysiders may look on and feel frustrated to have let the 29-year-old go rather than backing him to succeed at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It now looks as if Everton were right to let Calvert-Lewin go, though, as Beto continues to outshine him in the underlying numbers.

How has Dominic Calvert-Lewin fared at Leeds United?
It is no secret that the forward has rediscovered his goalscoring touch this season after struggling in recent years at Goodison Park.
He has already contributed to 12 Premier League goals and looks set to fire the Yorkshire side to safety after their promotion last campaign.
| Stat (Premier League 25-26) | Dominic Calvert-Lewin |
| Appearances | 30 |
| Minutes played | 2298 |
| Goals | 11 |
| Assists | 1 |
As positive as that may be, the Englishman has netted just four goals since the turn of the year, but continues to be the go-to man for Daniel Farke.
The forward has also underperformed his expected goal tally, having racked up 13.99 in his 2298 minutes this season.

That in itself doesn’t paint the best picture, but when comparing him to Beto, it only looks worse for the Englishman.
Calvert-Lewin may have outperformed the Everton man earlier this season, but that certainly can’t be said at this stage.
Everton star Beto now outperforming Calvert-Lewin
The Leeds man may have more league goals with 11 compared to the Guinea-Bissau international’s eight, but there are deeper numbers to assess.
In several Premier League stats per 90 this campaign, the Toffees’ number nine sits clear of his former teammate.
Beto has registered 0.53 goals and 0.60 goal contributions per 90, while Calvert-Lewin has clocked up just 0.43 and 0.47, respectively.

Both metrics sit below the Everton man, while the ex-Udinese man is also registering higher assist numbers with 0.07 compared to the 29-year-old’s 0.04.
These metrics all prove a point about Beto and show that Moyes and Co. ultimately made the right decision last summer.
