Seamus Coleman tipped for new role with Ireland amid Everton contract uncertainty
Seamus Coleman’s future is under the microscope at Everton in the final few weeks of the season.
The right-back has been a key figure in the Blues’ squad over the years, but his on-pitch influence has waned in recent years.
He has featured just five times this season, with three of those appearances coming in the Premier League
His deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and there have been no indications as to whether he will be offered a new deal.
If Everton decide to release Coleman, he could end up with a role with the Republic of Ireland national team as a new claim was made.

What role has Everton ace Coleman been tipped for?
Everton star Coleman featured in both of Ireland’s recent international matches, and is a valued member of the squad for his nation.
Irish Independent journalist Aidan Fitzmaurice backed the 37-year-old for a role within the national set-up, as either a general manager or liaison officer, if he is out of contract in the summer.

Writing on 23 April, he said: “The FAI should consider if it can come up with the finances and the title – general manager, team manager or international liaison officer – to keep him in green, as his talent and knowledge is something that should not be lost.”
While he wanted that outcome, he did state that it is extremely unlikely to happen if the Toffees offer a new deal.
Why Everton need to keep Coleman
Everton need to keep Coleman around in some capacity, whether that be as a player or as a coach of some sort, they can’t allow Fitzmaurice’s idea to come to fruition.
He knows what it means to play for the L3 club as a result of his 17-year association with the Merseysiders, and his knowledge would be valuable to pass on to current players and new signings.
Perhaps, the best use of him though, if he was not in a playing capacity would be within the academy, as he could teach the youth players, the principles and values that it requires to play for the Blues.

From the noise that has came out about his situation, it seems like he wants to continue playing, rather than immediately going into a backroom role, so that may put a spanner in any potential Ireland appointment.
It would not be too much of a surprise to see him take up that kind of role at some point in the future, though.
