Everton plan for future without James Tarkowski as Enzo Boyomo transfer on cards
Everton surely need to find a successor for James Tarkowski sooner rather than later.
It looks like the Toffees are doing exactly that, with Osasuna centre-back Enzo Boyomo on the radar at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Blues are keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old Cameroon international, who recently impressed despite the Pamplona club’s 2-1 loss to Barcelona at El Sadar.
Tarkowski has formed the backbone of the Merseyside outfit’s recent success and has been an ever-present in their backline since 2022.
David Moyes clearly needs more squad depth at Hill Dickinson Stadium and it would make sense to sign someone like Boyomo before slowly phasing the 33-year-old defender out of the starting lineup.

Enzo Boyomo season in numbers amid Everton interest
Boyomo has made 26 appearances for Osasuna in the league this season, keeping five clean sheets and recording two tackles per game, as per Sofascore.
The centre-back has won a majority of his ground duels, with a 59 per cent success rate, and has won 3.7 of his total duels on average per game in LaLiga.
| Statistics | Enzo Boyomo |
| Appearances | 26 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Clean sheets | 5 |
| Interceptions per game | 0.5 |
| Tackles per game | 2 |
| Balls recovered per game | 4.4 |
| Clearances per game | 4 |
| Toal duels won per game | 3.7 (55%) |
| Accurate passes per game | 37.5 (86%) |
With 4.4 balls recovered and four clearances per game, the defender has shown his defensive capabilities in Spain and has been dribbled past only 0.2 times per game on average.
There is room for improvement for Boyomo after conceding two penalties and making one error that led to a goal, but his potential has been evident.
James Tarkowski performances going under the radar in Premier League
Tarkowski has been consistently good for Everton in the last few seasons, but doesn’t seem to get the plaudits from the wider Premier League fanbase.
The Toffees’ supporters know just how good the English centre-back has been for them, ranking fourth behind James Garner, Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in terms of average Sofascore rating in the English top flight.
It will undoubtedly be difficult for the Blues to find a quality replacement for the former Burnley star, who has made 156 appearances for them in all competitions, and they should get to work sooner rather than later.
The Merseyside outfit must build for the future and they clearly have a plan as Boyomo continues to be monitored.
