Everton: Jordan Pickford catches Thomas Tuchel’s eye with ‘wonderful’ save vs Crystal Palace
Everton‘s Jordan Pickford made a crucial first-half save against Crystal Palace that may have impressed England boss Thomas Tuchel, who was watching in the stands at Selhurst Park.
The Toffees drew 2-2 with the Eagles on Sunday, in what was another dent in their hopes of achieving European football.
David Moyes‘ side threw away the lead on two occasions, with goals from Beto and James Tarkowski not enough to get the job done.
The Blues were on the ropes in the final stages of the game, with Palace coming close with several attempts.
However, Pickford stood strong the whole game, and most likely left Tuchel with no doubt over his pending choices for this summer.

Glenn Murray has his say on Jordan Pickford save
Everton had different performances against Crystal Palace, with some deserving their praise, but others not so much.
Pickford has gone through a rough spell with the Toffees recently, but was back to his brilliant best against the Eagles.
| Area of game | Stats |
| Touches | 54 |
| Goals conceded | 2 |
| Goals prevented | 1.20 |
| Saves | 6 |
| Pass accuracy | 40% |
There was end-to-end action in the 17th minute of the game when Pickford denied Maxence Lacroix with his feet, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s effort was kept out at the other end by Dean Henderson.
While co-commentating live on Sky Sports, former Crystal Palace man Glenn Murray had his say on the moments, before the camera panned to Tuchel in the stands.
Murray said: “This is a top, top save, wonderful from England’s number one, then another good save by England’s number two. Wonderful goalkeeping on display for that man’s eyes there [Tuchel].”

The Toffees have conceded 11 goals in five games since their 3-0 win over Chelsea, and look like a shell of the team that they once were just a few weeks ago.
Even if Everton fall short of their dreams of qualifying for Europe this season, there is little doubt that Pickford won’t get his with England.
Everton miss Idrissa Gana Gueye
Everton looked poor in multiple areas against Palace, and were undone too many times by easy chances.
Moyes’ side were arguably lucky to leave London with a point in the end, as the Eagles peppered Everton’s goal in the final few minutes of the game.
It highlights just how much Idrissa Gana Gueye’s presence has been missed these past two games, where the Blues have conceded far too much xG.
Tim Iroegbunam just cannot be the sweeper in front of the defence that Everton need, and it’s strikingly worrying that the Toffees require a 36-year-old midfielder to get back to fitness.
In saying that, Gueye is someone who Everton need to look at upgrading this summer, which is more telling of the back-up options that Moyes currently has.
