Everton form poses even bigger question for Tyler Dibling

Everton are winless in their last five Premier League encounters.

The Toffees were at one point in the driving seat to go on and achieve European football, though it’s a very different story now.

As a result of the Merseysiders having gone five games without a win, they find themselves 10th in the table and relying on those above them to drop points.

Throughout that run, David Moyes has made a handful of decisions that have certainly caused debate, with the inclusion of Merlin Rohl out wide at the top of the list.

Rohl has failed to impress in his new role, and the fact that it was even a consideration bodes rather poorly for Tyler Dibling.

What has happened with Tyler Dibling?

Let’s have it straight, Dibling has not impressed when he has been handed the chance.

However, Moyes has refused to hand him enough gametime to prove his worth, even throughout their recent winless run.

The 20-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of football for the Toffees since the start of March, when he quite literally played just one minute in a 2-0 win over Burnley.

For his last Premier League appearance, in which he played more than 20 minutes, you have to go back to the start of January, when he was hooked at half-time in a 4-2 defeat against Brentford.

Given Everton’s struggles in that area of the pitch, it is beyond baffling that Moyes has refused to give him another chance.

Dibling’s future examined

If Moyes isn’t going to use Dibling now, then there is next to no chance that he will have any role to play next season.

Everton will look to strengthen the options they have on the wings, and that will push the former Saints star even further down the pecking order.

Given the money paid to sign him, the Toffees won’t want to cut their losses quite yet, but an exit is likely this summer.

A loan move would benefit all parties, with a year to reassess his future at Hill Dickinson.
