Nathan Patterson told ideal exit route from Everton, it’d ‘reignite his career’
Nathan Patterson has been told there is a club he could join from Everton this summer to “reignite his career”.
That is the view of pundit Paul Dickov, who has sympathy over the full-back’s lack of minutes under David Moyes.
Patterson has struggled for regular playing time over a number of seasons now and has been regularly tipped with an exit.
The Scotland international, who is expected to be part of his nation’s World Cup squad this summer, has one year remaining on his contract.
And Dickov believes there will be teams watching Patterson’s situation ahead of the transfer window opening.

Rangers could be ideal landing spot for Nathan Patterson
Patterson joined Everton from Rangers in an £11million move in January 2022 and was used semi-regularly in his first two full campaigns at Goodison Park.
The 24-year-old played 19 times in the Premier League in 2022-23 and 20 times the following season, but he sustained an injury in April 2024 that saw him miss 10 months.

Patterson has played just 17 times combined in the past two Premier League seasons, many of those being substitute appearances, with his future at Hill Dickinson Stadium looking bleak.
Speaking via the Daily Record, Dickov named Rangers as an ideal landing spot for Patterson if he is to kickstart his career away from Everton.
“Nathan Patterson is at the age where you have to be playing football,” Dickov said. “He’s had some unfortunate injuries, but now that he’s back, he needs game time.

“There’s no doubting his ability; he’s a top young defender, and a move back to Rangers would be good for him.
“If he’s available, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of clubs interested in him. But I think a move back to Rangers, where he’s comfortable and in surroundings he knows, could reignite his career.”
Patterson has one more game to prove World Cup credentials
Patterson will wonder what he has to do for more Everton chances, having either been completely overlooked by Moyes or thrown on right at the end of games.
The full-back will still be hopeful of being included in Scotland’s World Cup squad, but he now has just one more game – if selected – to bolster his case.
Steve Clarke is to announce his squad next Tuesday, with Everton playing only once – at home to Sunderland on Sunday – prior to that.

The reality is that Patterson will likely be on the bench for that game and given a few minutes late on at best, depending on the situation of the game.
Everton need to recoup some money for Patterson this summer regardless, with Rangers seeming like a good shout as they seek a replacement for long-term skipper James Tavernier.
