Everton learn potential cost for Issa Doumbia investment as €20m fee mooted
Everton may have to fork out more money than they’d planned if they wish to sign Issa Doumbia from Venezia this summer.
The 22-year-old midfielder shone in Italy’s Serie B this past 2025-26 season, and is emerging as a bright young talent in Italian football.
Capped at youth level for Italy, Doumbia joined Venezia in the summer of 2024 from AlbinoLeffe, and has since evolved into a key starting player for them.
Playing in all but one of their 38 Serie B games last season, Doumbia helped Venezia to a Serie B title win and an instant return to Serie A football, having been relegated from Italy’s top flight in 2024-25.
As such, the central midfielder is garnering transfer interest ahead of this summer’s window, but Everton may need a sizeable investment in order to win his signature.

How much Everton may need to pay for Issa Doumbia deal
Everton’s midfield ranks may be in need of a refresh this summer, with the potential for a number of engine room exits seemingly high.
James Garner is known to have many admirers, whilst Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s career campaign is also attracting interest in his services too.

Meanwhile, Idrissa Gueye is set to become a free agent this summer with his contract expiring at the end of this season, but Everton do have the option to trigger a 12-month extension if they wish.
Either way, the Toffees appear keen to bolster their midfield ranks regardless, and that has reportedly led them to Doumbia as one potential option for them.
Everton and Newcastle have been linked to Doumbia, as have a host of top clubs across European football, and it would seem as though this increasing interest is only serving to drive up Venezia’s asking price.
As per a report from A Bola, Doumbia’s transfer value could be closer to €20million euros/£17.4m pounds rather than previous suggestions of his value being around €15m/£13m.
Doumbia is a financial gamble worth taking for Everton
Even if this latest report is correct and Everton would need to pay something in the region of £17m for Doumbia, that could still look like a snip in a few years’ time.
The level and profile of interest from clubs across European football should offer confidence that many top scouts and transfer chiefs view his talent and potential as being extremely good.
He has only played one season of Serie A football in his career though, with his other four senior campaigns consisting of three terms in Serie C and one in Serie B respectively.
However, Doumbia was a revelation for Venezia in 2025-26, and if he is to keep progressing on the seemingly upward trajectory he’s on, then he could bankroll Everton with major profits by the time he’s in his prime.
