David Moyes will be haunted by latest Everton late goals reveal
David Moyes will be highly concerned by the latest reveal on Everton‘s form.
The Blues boss has overseen a solid first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where European football looked like a genuine possibility.
However, their chances of a berth in continental competition have decreased massively in recent weeks after a slump.
That threatens to bring in questions about Moyes’ future and whether he is the right man to take the L3 side forward.
Everton have failed to win their last six matches, and there is something in the underlying numbers which stands out and will haunt Moyes.

How bad is Everton’s issue?
Everton have a big problem with late goals lately, as they keep conceding them.
Per EFC Statto on X, the Blues have conceded 10 goals after the 76th minute in their last eight league matches.
That is double the amount they conceded in their first 29 games in the division this season, which was five.
How do Everton fix the problem?
Everton have an easy route to address this issue, and that is a combination between the transfer market and the academy.
The reason why the Toffees have conceded so many late goals is that the players are shattered due to a lack of rotation.
The Blues have used just 22 players in the league this season, the lowest of any top-flight side, and the joint-fewest in their history, also using that amount in the 1993-94 and 2004-05 campaigns.
| Season | Players used |
| 2025-26 | 22 |
| 1993-94 | 22 |
| 2004-05 | 22 |
| 2007-08 | 23 |
| 2012-13 | 23 |
| 2018-19 | 23 |
The solution is signing new players for squad depth and promoting talents from Finch Farm into the squad, so that the starting calibre stars stay fit and have a chance for rest.
Moyes’ reluctance to trust the likes of Tyler Dibling and Adam Aznou has hurt his side, and resulted in them missing out on Europe, something that was a realistic possibility a few weeks ago.
His first team is very good, but beyond that, they lack the quality required to truly breach the upper echelons of the league right now.
That could all change if the Friedkin Group backs the Scotsman in the summer, and brings in the right quality of players, but until they do, it will be the same old story.
