Everton on collision course with Friedkin-owned Roma amid Jamie Leweling interest
Everton and Roma are set to battle it out for the signature of Stuttgart attacker Jamie Leweling.
The winger, who can also play as a number 10, has been making waves in Germany, even being called up for their World Cup squad.
The Blues are in need of fresh recruits on the flanks, but the Friedkin Group also own the Italian club who want to sign him too.
So far, the two have not rivalled each other for the same player, at least, not seriously, as they have been linked with the same players before.
That leaves them on a collision course, with the interest in Leweling’s services potentially providing a sticky situation for Everton’s ownership.

Why Leweling could cause Friedkin dilemma
David Moyes is desperate for further attacking reinforcements in the summer, and Leweling would fit the bill.
A report from Sky Sports Germany claimed the Toffees and Roma both want the 25-year-old star, but they are not alone in the chase.
| Jamie Leweling | Stuttgart stats |
| Games (starts) | 32 (26) |
| Goals/assists | 7/9 |
| Dribble success rate | 46% |
| Shots per game | 1.5 |
| Sofascore rating | 7.03 |
Bournemouth also want to sign the four-cap international who could cost around £43million, if the German club’s demands are met.
The interest from both Friedkin Group sides could be a problem, as it could upset one fanbase if the other club signs him.
The sides have previously both been interested in Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee, and it would have been baffling had the Americans signed him for the Italian side, when the Blues were desperate for a striker.
Why Friedkins should prioritise Everton
The Friedkins should prioritise the Merseyside club, as ultimately, there is more money in the Premier League than in Serie A.
They should be the number one club in their portfolio, as they can increase the revenue more for the overall group and are more successful in terms of their history.
| Everton vs Roma comparison | Everton | Roma |
| Ownership stake | 99% | 95.97 |
| Stadium size | 52,769 | 70,634 |
| Trophy count | 15 | 15 |
| League position | 12th | 4th |
Everton have nine league titles to Roma’s three, they both have one European trophy each and the Rome-based side have nine Coppa Italia wins to the English side’s five FA cups.
If push comes to shove and both sides’ recruitment teams want the player, they should give the nod to Moyes and Co, as it would be more beneficial to their interests.
