Fabrizio Romano confirms bombshell Anthony Gordon exit news as Everton set for cash boost

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Anthony Gordon will leave Newcastle United this summer, as Everton know they will be due further funds from his awaited sale.

The Toffees spent around £100million last summer in a controversial transfer window that only helped them to finish one point better than last campaign.

David Moyes wants to make new additions to his side in the upcoming window, with funds needed from sales at the club.

However, the Blues have a sell-on clause for Gordon, which was inserted in his contract with Newcastle when he left the club in 2023.

Everton will see a multi-million-pound fee head their way if the Englishman is sold, with Romano now confirming that it’s just a matter of which club he joins.

Fabrizio Romano says Anthony Gordon will leave Newcastle this summer

Everton will see a cash boost when Gordon is sold, as the Magpies bought the winger from the Blues for around £45m, a value which has only increased at St. James’ Park.

According to previous reports, Newcastle values the 25-year-old at £80m, with Everton set to profit on a fraction of his sale.

Gordon in PL for Newcastle

While speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Romano confirmed that Gordon will be leaving Newcastle and may even be departing the Premier League in general.

Romano said: “He is going to leave Newcastle. In this case, I’m 100 per cent sure the plan is for him to try something new. Newcastle are already aware of the decision.

“He’s appreciated by Barcelona, there is interest from Bayern Munich, and they have already made contact, but there could be more clubs.”

Luckily for Everton, Gordon has shown his skill in the Champions League as well as the Premier League, with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern, and other big European clubs interested in his services.

How much would Everton make from £80m Gordon sale?

In today’s market, Gordon’s proposed value of £80m seems about right, but Newcastle may even push for more.

However, if that was the fee he was to leave England, Everton would be making 15 per cent of whatever Newcastle got for above the £45m they paid for the former Toffees star.

The Friedkin Group could make £5.25m from Gordon’s sale if Newcastle were to sell him for the suggested amount.

It’s not a game-changing figure, but it’s certainly one that would help in the grand scheme of things, and this summer would be best for Everton to profit the most with their former star’s stock high.
