Everton have chance to seal bargain transfer for Aster Vranckx as Wolfsburg suffer 24-year first

Everton could finally get their hands on Aster Vranckx this summer.

The Toffees ended the season winless in seven, demonstrating the need for a fresh injection of quality ahead of the summer transfer window.

Everton need depth across all areas of the pitch, though more options in midfield are likely to be one of several priorities.

James Garner and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have impressed, though the others outside of that have struggled to live up to expectations.

Vranckx has been linked with Everton in the past, and this summer could present the chance to make that deal happen.

Everton can capitalise on Wolfsburg’s downfall

For the first time since 2002, Wolfsburg will not be playing in the top flight of German football, having had their relegation confirmed on Monday night.

Vranckx was not a part of the team that suffered the relegation, having joined Sassuolo on loan, though he is expected to return to Wolfsburg at some stage this summer.

The 23-year-old has showcased some worth in Serie A this season, with his physicality in the middle of the park a clear strength of his, alongside other aspects.

And with Wolfsburg likely to be in financial trouble, Everton may be able to take advantage of that by sealing a bargain deal for the Belgian midfielder.

What would Vranckx bring to Everton?

Everton will need far better options to break into the first-team midfield, though depth will be just as important, and Vranckx would be excellent for that.

He would offer plenty of physicality to a midfield that lacks it, while also having the room to grow into a much more complete midfielder.

It may be too far to say that it would be a no-brainer transfer for the Toffees, but it is certainly one that may be worth looking into depending on the finances involved.
