Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall pens honest Everton message – ‘miles off it’
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has admitted that Everton were “miles off it” during their poor end to the 2025-26 Premier League season.
David Moyes‘ side were enjoying a strong campaign all the way up until the beginning of April, when Everton were still right in the European mix.
However, starting with the 2-2 draw to Brentford on 11 April, the Toffees would go winless from their final seven games of the season, finishing with a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.
As such, they saw their hopes of qualifying for Europe dwindle away from them during the final weeks of term, before finally finishing in 13th place, matching their placing from 2024-25.
Everton’s results during the run-in saw a number of players underperform, but not Dewsbury-Hall, who has now spoken on the team’s capitulation over the final part of the 2025-26 campaign.

What has Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall said on Everton’s run-in?
Dewsbury-Hall was one of Everton’s standout players last season, scoring eight times and providing four assists in 31 Premier League appearances.
Without him, Moyes’ men wouldn’t have been anywhere near qualifying for European football last term, with the 27-year-old proving to be an excellent signing from Chelsea last summer.
| Dewsbury-Hall’s 25-26 PL stats | Result |
| Successful passes | 846 |
| Chances created | 37 |
| Duels won | 147 |
| Defensive contributions | 230 |
| Average match rating | 7.2 |
The attacking midfielder did previously admit back in late April that Everton’s players had tough conversations with one another, in the attempt to get to the bottom of how to fix what they were doing wrong.
Unfortunately, the Toffees weren’t quite able to do that, and now Dewsbury-Hall has taken to his Instagram account to post an honest and mature reflection on how Everton’s season ended.
“Awful end to the season after a promising campaign, miles off it to be honest,” he said.

“A long summer now to review & come back bigger and better next year.
“Thanks for all the love in my first season here.”
Everton have their Seamus Coleman captain successor
With long-time skipper Seamus Coleman leaving Everton this summer, Moyes must now find a suitable successor to wear the armband.
In Dewsbury-Hall, he’s got one, and his latest Instagram post shows he’s got some of the key qualities needed to be Everton captain.
His words displayed honesty, self-awareness, maturity, leadership and a clear sense of fight and pride over representing the football club.
So, he may well have only been on Merseyside for one season, and whilst it’s going to be a big role to fill following on from the Irishman, Dewsbury-Hall is as good a candidate as any in this squad to inherit the armband from Coleman.
