Everton show backwards thinking as deal to re-sign academy failure Isaac Price on the cards
Everton are showing their transfer idiocy once again as they are interested in signing former Finch Farm academy youngster Isaac Price.
The Toffees released the attacking midfielder at the end of his contract in 2023, as he then made his way to Belgium to sign for Standard Liege.
After showing some signs of potential, West Brom swooped in for Price in the 2025 winter window, where he’s enjoyed his time at The Hawthorns.
The 22-year-old has now made somewhat of a name for himself in the Championship, playing a big part in helping keep Albion in the second tier after relegation fears.
Almost three years after deeming him a Finch Farm failure, Everton now wants to re-sign Price in another transfer link that just truly baffles.

What has been said about Everton re-signing Isaac Price?
There have been suggestions to say that Everton still regret letting Price go for nothing, as the youngster has been performing for club and country in the last two seasons.
The Northern Irishman was always seen as a Finch Farm reject, as he only managed to make five senior appearances across two years before the Toffees disposed of him.
| Club/Nation | Time spent at club/nation | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Standard Liege | June 2023 – January 2025 | 63 | 1 | 2 |
| West Bromwich Albion | January 2025 – Present | 64 | 10 | 4 |
| Northern Ireland | March 2023 – Present | 30 | 10 | 1 |
As seen in the table above, Price has really taken off since signing for West Brom, and has especially excelled on the highest stage of them all, playing well for his country.
According to Express & Star on Monday, Everton are one of three interested Premier League clubs that would like to sign Price this summer.

Crystal Palace and Fulham are said to be interested, but even the Toffees would outdo themselves if they put their foot to the pedal on this one and get it done.
There’s a good chance that the Baggies hold off for around £10million, which will truly feel like money flushed down the drain considering Everton once had him at the club.
What does this say about Everton’s transfer plans?
Price can play anywhere across the frontline, but mainly excels in central positions. He has a wide range of ways to score goals. He can score with both feet, with his head, and has an eye for goal from range.
That being said, the former Everton youth star would do well to knock Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall out of the team.
So unless David Moyes and Co. expect their key number 10 to depart Hill Dickinson this summer, then there’s only one reason why they may be in for Price.
Is anyone talking about how good Isaac Price is yet?

That reason would be depth, something that the Blues desperately need.
However, it still wouldn’t take away from the fact that it would be a totally backwards transfer story for Everton.
