Everton want Jack Clarke, Sunderland £15m talks on cards

An offer of £15million could test Sunderland’s resolve when it comes to Everton transfer target Jack Clarke, according to Inews.

It’s believed Premier League scouts are paying attention to the winger. With Brentford, Burnley and Crystal Palace also in the mix (Inews, 5 June).

It’s understood that an offer in the region of £15million could “prompt conversations” over the English winger’s future with the Championship club.

Football League World claimed on 1 June that the 22-year-old was expected to leave the North East during the summer window, with Rangers and Wolves also watching the situation.

Electric

Clarke was electric for the Mackems during the 2022/23 season. His pace and direct running was a nightmare for Championship defences up and down the country. Moving to the Stadium of Light was a smart decision. His career was stagnating at Tottenham.

He’s clearly far too good for the second tier. He was excellent for Leeds United and has now shown he’s back to his best with Sunderland. Everton would be foolish not to advance their interest in Clarke. He’s at the perfect age to kick on.

It’s a route the board and Kevin Thellwell need to go down. Targetting younger players who can develop and turn into assets during their time at Goodison Park.

There’s plenty of success stories when it comes to young English wingers. Jack Grealish for example. The Manchester City superstar helped propel Aston Villa to promotion before earning his move to The Etihad.

Something similar for Clarke and Everton would be ideal.
