Everton: Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara share new relegation verdict after Crystal Palace draw

Everton are in a straight shoot-out with Luton Town to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season after their draw with Crystal Palace, according to Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy.

Sean Dyche’s side were poor in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday (19 February) at Goodison Park and needed a late header from Amadou Onana to salvage a point after an ineffective attacking display.

While the draw sees the Toffees climb out of the Premier Relegation zone, Jason Cundy has still suggested that they will be relegated this season, despite the fact Nottingham Forest are “dicing with death”.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (19 February, 22:16) he said: “You think about it and all of a sudden, you think it’s Everton or Luton. I don’t think anybody else is going to get dragged in. Forest are dicing with death, Palace looked alright tonight, Brentford will have too much, I just think it’s one from two.

“If I had to put a pound on it, I’d have to say Luton to stay up.”

O’Hara agreed saying: “I’ve been saying Luton all season, but I really don’t want to see Everton go down.”

Will Everton be relegated from the Premier League this season?

While there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the end of the season, the current feeling around Goodison Park is incredibly bleak and Monday’s performance did very little to lift the mood.

Dyche’s side was poor and boring in possession as they repeatedly lumped the ball long to Dominic Calvert-Lewin who was isolated and struggled. Palace themselves were poor but did more than enough to warrant a point.

While Luton themselves haven’t been excellent this term, they have shown that they can consistently pick up points even when they’re not playing well and that could well be enough to avoid the drop this term, especially if the Toffees keep wasting excellent opportunities to win matches.

Something has to change sooner rather than later and the penny will have to drop because, at the moment, Everton are coasting towards relegation and doing very little to put the brakes on.
