Olympiacos are advancing in their deal to sign Everton target Martin Braithwaite on a free transfer, according to COPE journalist Quique Iglesias.

In a report on 17 July, Spanish news outlet Sport mentioned Iglesias' claim along with the fact that the Toffees are keen on signing the 33-year-old.

It's also understood that the Merseyside outfit have presented an offer to the Denmark international to move to Goodison Park. [Mundo Deportivo, 2 July]

Everton are dodging a bullet with Martin Braithwaite

The Toffees may be dodging a bullet by potentially missing out on Braithwaite.

At 33 years old, Braithwaite is entering the twilight of his career, and his age could limit his impact and longevity at Goodison Park.

While he has shown his scoring prowess in Spain, his lack of Premier League experience is a significant concern.

Braithwaite's previous stint in England with Middlesbrough was underwhelming, with just nine goals in 40 appearances.

Furthermore, Sean Dyche is known for his emphasis on physical and hard-working players.

The 33-year-old's style of play may not align with Dyche's demands, potentially leading to a mismatch between player and manager.

With him currently in advanced talks over a move to Greece, it seems like that is his priority for the summer transfer window.
