Everton have lost out to Fulham in the race to secure the services of Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his Playback TV stream (30 August, 21:57), the transfer news expert claimed that while Toffees wanted him, Fulham have beaten them to sign the 20-year-old.

Everything appears to be done with regards to the Ghana winger moving to Craven Cottage before the 11 pm deadline.

Romano said: "Nuamah to Fulham here we go. Everton wanted him, Fulham wanted him but he's going to Fulham. Here we go."

Everton dodge a bullet by not signing Ernest Nuamah

Nuamah's transfer to Fulham might be a blessing in disguise for the Toffees, given the winger's apparent lack of enthusiasm towards joining them.

Throughout the transfer saga, there was a feeling that the Ghana international's heart wasn't set on moving to Goodison Park.

This reluctance could stem from various factors, including Everton's current standing, stability behind the scenes, or perhaps the vision and playing style Fulham offered.

His choice for the Cottagers, despite interest from Everton, suggests a preference for the London club's project or perhaps a better personal fit.

For the Toffees, missing out on a player who might not have been fully committed could save them from potential locker room issues or underperformance due to a lack of motivation.
