Frank Lampard: A confusing Everton legacy
frank Lampard’s Everton legacy is a bit of a curious case. When he replaced the deeply unpopular Rafael Benitez at Goodison Park in January 2022, the Toffees were hovering just above the relegation zone and in the midst of a poor run. The former England international secured Premier League survival, describing a comeback 3-2 win over Crystal Palace that secured safety as “one of the greatest nights of my career”. The following campaign was pretty dismal, though, and Lampard would be replaced by Sean Dyche just 12 months after being appointed, with a run of one win in 11 matches sealing his fate. At the time of his tenure, Everton were mired in difficulties on and off the pitch, and under different circumstances perhaps things might have been different.
Frank Lampard’s managerial record (up to and including Everton)
Lampard did help Everton stay in the Premier League but his overall record flattered to deceive, winning 12 of 44 matches for a 27.3 per cent win record.
Frank Lampard: Managerial achievements
Lampard is yet to win a major honour, coming closest with Chelsea in the 2019-20 FA Cup final. He led Derby County to the Championship play-off final in 2018-19, and has Coventry City fighting for promotion this season.
