Gordon to start in two changes: Predicted Everton starting XI v Newcastle
Everton face a quick turnaround after their draw with West Ham United on Saturday; facing off with Newcastle United on Tuesday.
It’s another seemingly winnable game, this time at Goodison Park, and Carlo Ancelotti will be hopeful of claiming all three points.
The Magpies, though, have proved to be a rather tough nut to crack under Steve Bruce this season, and are coming off a fantastic victory over Chelsea.
Ancelotti is having to deal with a number of injuries to key players at the moment, and so he will likely only make two changes on Tuesday – even if he’d probably like to make more.
Jordan Pickford returned to something close to top form on Saturday, and so he will almost certainly start again against Bruce’s team.
At right back, Seamus Coleman still has the consistency edge over Djibril Sidibe, and so will surely start here. Meanwhile, Lucas Digne is the main man at left back and will most likely get the nod again.
Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate had good, solid games against the Hammers, particularly the latter. Both men can expect to reprise their roles on Tuesday.
Wide right, Anthony Gordon will surely get the nod. Theo Walcott has underwhelmed for – literally – years now. The youngster, meanwhile, came off the bench and impressed against the Irons. Bernard will likely keep his place on the opposite flank.
In central midfield, Tom Davies has to drop out after a woeful display on Saturday. Morgan Schneiderlin could well come in to partner Fabian Delph.
Nothing will likely change up front, though, where both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean can expect to start.
In other Everton news, a Toffees transfer target has reportedly been left out of his current club’s match day squad on Sunday.
