Danny Mills has torn into Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after his mistakes in the 2-2 draw against Newcastle last time out in the Premier League.

The Sky Sports pundit was particularly unimpressed with his efforts in the recent 2-2 draw with Newcastle, somehow losing a two-goal lead in the final two minutes of stoppage time.

Florian Lejeune scored twice at Goodison Park, with Pickford at fault for the second - his poor positioning allowing the ball to cross the line.

Mills did admit that he was a big fan of the England international, but he sometimes lets his emotions get the better of him in his performances.

"I’ve always said he can be a very, very good goalkeeper, he can be excellent, but he can be a bit emotional, a bit erratic from time to time," he told Football Insider.

"Look across Stanley Park at Alisson – very rarely gets flustered, doesn’t get rattled, isn’t screaming and shouting, isn’t beating his chest. Jordan Pickford is sometimes the opposite.

"He saves the first shot, punches it in the air, he’s behind the line for the second, some would say it’s a little bit unlucky but then you turn and say well, does Alisson get himself into that situation? Probably not."

Pickford may have made mistakes in the past, but he has been the Toffees' hero on many different occasions since he arrived from Sunderland.

The 25-year-old doesn't have much competition at Goodison Park, and that could mean he is too relaxed about his position at the club. The stats are there though, he isn't in the top 10 goalkeepers in the Premier League for saves made in and out of the penalty area [WhoScored].
