Mark Lawrenson makes Everton v Man United prediction
Everton return to Premier League action after last weekend’s tough loss to Arsenal with another tricky fixture: a home clash with Manchester United.
The Toffees had chances to secure victory or at least a point against the Gunners last time out, but ultimately fell to a 3-2 defeat.
Still, there were positives at the Emirates Stadium and, if they can shore up their defensive issues, they should have a very good chance of tasting victory against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
United have improved in recent weeks thanks to the revelatory January signing of midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
Former Liverpool centre back Mark Lawrenson, though, feels that the hosts will triumph 2-0 at Goodison Park.
“Manchester United’s form has picked up, in terms of goals and clean sheets in recent weeks, and January signing Bruno Fernandes has already made a difference,” he wrote on the BBC Sport website.

“He has brought the creativity that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were sadly lacking, and got the fans smiling again.
“I just fancy Everton in this one, though. They always have a real go at United in this fixture and I think Goodison Park will be rocking. It is their biggest home game since Carlo Ancelotti took charge and is a chance for them to show where they are at under him. They will be ready for United, you can be sure of that.”
Three points for the Toffees?
It’s extremely difficult to predict any Premier League game, of course, and this one is particularly baffling.
Both teams are in good form overall, even if the Blues did suffer a defeat last time out. The two sides just look so evenly-matched.
However, Everton have a fearsome strike duo at the moment who could give the United defence fits.
If the Toffees can do well in the midfield battle – and that’s where Andre Gomes’ return will help majorly – then they should be able to grab a narrow win.
In other Everton news, the club are reportedly monitoring two Nigerian international starlets.
