Report - Everton receive major boost after behind-the-scenes Goodison sighting
Everton defender Lucas Digne has returned to training ahead of the Toffees’ Premier League clash with Chelsea this weekend, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The French full-back has been absent from the Blues’ last two outings after sustaining a calf injury that he picked up during the build-up to last month’s defeat against Arsenal.
Veteran deputy Leighton Baines has been called upon to fill in for the 26-year-old, registering a pair of eye-catching performances.
But Carlo Ancelotti could have his first choice back in contention for Sunday’s trip to Stamford Bridge after it was revealed that Digne has been training with teammates throughout the week.
How much of boost will have Digne back be for Everton?
First and foremost, kudos to Leighton Baines because he has managed to soften the blow of losing Digne brilliantly.

The veteran full-back may not play every week, but he stepped up to the plate fantastically over these past few weeks, and that deserves credit.
That being said, if Digne can feature against Chelsea, that will only be a good thing.
The Frenchman is unquestionably one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and has impressed again this season.
With an average of 74.36 successful actions per game, as per Wyscout, as well as a pass completion rate in excess of 80% and a massive 5.55 interceptions per 90 minutes, his role in the side cannot be understated.
Having him available will surely delight Ancelotti, and even if he does choose to ease him back into the first team picture instead of dropping him straight into the action against Chelsea, we know we can rely on Leighton to do a job too.
