Carlo Ancelotti insists Everton star must get better despite being one of ‘best players’

Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Everton striker Richarlison still needs to improve his game next season in the Premier League.

That is despite the Italian admitting that the South American is one of the best players he has at Goodison Park.

Richarlison scored the winner in their latest victory at Brammall Lane, beating Sheffield United by a single goal in South Yorkshire.

Ancelotti set out what Richarlison needs to improve, including his retention of the ball when in possession for his side.

“Positioning he has to improve,” he told Sky Sports.

“He has all the quality we need. He is one of our best players and we have a lot of confidence in him.

“When he has the ball, sometimes he loses the ball too easily. He has to be strong there because he has the ball.

“Nothing to say on the efficiency in the box, that is fantastic.”

It seems harsh on Richarlison that Ancelotti is demanding more, but that is what makes the Italian one of the best managers in the world.

No manager is ever fully-satisfied and it will only benefit Richarlison’s career if he was to improve even further at Goodison Park.

According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old is Everton’s top performer this season – scoring 13 goals in his 35 appearances.

No other player completes more shots on goal and dribbles per game according to the stats website, and maybe the area that Ancelotti wants improving is his ability to create chances for teammates.

Either way, we are bound to see a deadlier Richarlison next season if Ancelotti succeeds in improving his marquee man over the summer.
