BBC pundit heaps praise on 'Brilliant' Everton player in 1-0 victory v Spurs
Karen Carney has heaped praise on Everton midfielder Allan for his debut performance against Tottenham on Sunday.
The BBC pundit claimed that the Toffees have been missing that calibre of player in midfield ever since Idrissa Gueye left for Paris Saint-Germain.
Allan joined James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure as Carlo Ancelotti handed out three debuts in the season opener in the capital.
Carney believes that the Brazilian was brilliant in possession and was superb at the base of midfield in the quarterback role.
“Allan is the type of player that Everton have lacked since Idrissa Gueye went to Paris Saint-Germain,” she said on BBC 5 Live Sport.
“This guy in possession is brilliant.”

How did Allan fare on his debut?
The Brazilian definitely caught the eye and wasn’t afraid to foul his man if it was needed when the Toffees were caught on the break.
There were times where Allan needed treatment more than once, and that highlights a player not afraid to put his body on the line – something Ancelotti has missed desperately.
It was the perfect second half too, with Everton opening the scoring thanks to a wonderful header from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
No one made more tackles on the pitch than Allan, and if he continues with performances of this standard, he will quickly become a Toffees favourite.
