Durham claims Everton win v Wolves was best PL performance of the season

Adrian Durham has claimed that Tuesday’s Everton win against Wolves was the best performance produced by a Premier League side this season.

The Toffees won 2-1 at Molineux on Tuesday evening as goals from Alex Iwobi and Michael Keane secured the points.

It was a much-changed Everton side with several key players missing and, speaking on TalkSPORT, Durham hailed the performance as ‘phenomenal’.

He said, “The win from Everton at Wolves is the best performance from any club in the Premier League so far this season.

“So many key players out for Everton. Four or five players last night were playing out of position. It was tactically phenomenal from Carlo Ancelotti.

“Even [Alex] Iwobi played well. We are looking at an incredible Everton performance that should not be undervalued.”

Richarlison started on the bench while Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed out altogether in the impressive win as Gylfi Sigurdsson started upfront.

Eyebrows were raised over the team selection but all doubts were cast aside once the game started and the Blues began to purr.

James Rodriguez looked back to his usual self as he pinged balls all over the pitch while Lucas Digne turned in an outstanding performance on the left-wing position.

There is so much optimism now the club has proved it can produce that kind of performance with key players missing.

Versatility is key this season with so many games to play in such a short space of time and Ancelotti’s side proved that they can still get the job done with players playing in different roles.

This top four push we are all dreaming of is beginning to look like a reality as fans begin to wonder what Ancelotti can achieve once he has a clean bill of health at the club.
