View: Zirkzee wanting Everton move highlights Ancelotti pull
Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly keen on becoming an Everton player this month, according to Sky Deutschland (cited by Inside Futbol).
Italian outlet Tuttomercato Web had reported that Seria A outfit Parma had stolen a march over Everton in the pursuit of the Dutch youth international, but conflicting reports now claim that Zirkzee has his heart set on a move to Merseyside.
Inside Futbol do however make clear that a deal is far from done, with Bayern seeking an £8.9m ( €10m) permanent obligation clause in any loan agreement; a clause that Everton are hesitant to agree upon in this current market.
Zirkzee’s loan move away from Bayern comes at a time when the young forward is itching for more regular game time, which is something that has proven tough to come by at the Allianz Arena this season.
Since Ancelotti took over at Goodison Park, Everton have almost always been set up in a formation that only has room for one forward, and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin possessing a strong grip on the lone striker role, Zirkzee could find minutes hard to come by on Merseyside.
Because of this, the 19-year old’s ambition to come to Everton over Parma, a side who would most definitely offer him more regular minutes, shows the pulling power that Ancelotti still has a manager.
Ancelotti is undoubtedly the best signing Everton have made in years, not simply through what he brings to the table in experience and coaching ability, but in how his reputation and his legacy have amplified the club’s reach in the transfer market.
James Rodriguez and Allan both made it known that Ancelotti played a major part in their decision to leave Champions League clubs in order to join Everton, and with Zirkzee having his eye on a switch, it seems as though Ancelotti isn’t done using his influence to Everton’s benefit.
In other Everton news, Kevin Campbell believes his former club should move for Felipe Anderson.
