'I can't believe it' - Exclusive: Campbell delivers verdict on Everton fixture pile up
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell doesn’t understand why some Everton fans are complaining about the upcoming congested fixture list.
The Blues play Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup late on Sunday evening ahead of a midweek game against Leicester with another league game against Newcastle the following Saturday lunchtime.
Some Evertonians have been vocal in their complaints about the scheduling though Campbell doesn’t understand why this is an issue.
Speaking to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Fans moaning about games? I can’t believe it.
“It’s the same for everybody. One thing we knew about this season is that the squads are going to be stretched to breaking point.

“There are so many games. I don’t know what the moaning is about. The games are coming thick and fast and you need to utilise your squad. That’s it.”
In fairness, the complaints from Blues fans, including ourselves, is that the FA Cup game against the Owls has been moved to the late slot on Sunday for television coverage.
This was done knowing full well that we have a game against Leicester in midweek followed by another early league game.
There would be no harm in playing the FA Cup game on the Saturday along with the majority of other cup games scheduled for this weekend.
Campbell is right about utilising the squad though.
Carlo Ancelotti has a squad available to him that he has to rotate and he will have to try and secure three wins with that squad in under a week as the club looks to progress in the cup and keep the dream of a top four finish alive.
Hopefully no more injuries come as a result of these three games in quick succession otherwise the anger from the fanbase may grow.
In other Everton news, we thing this Blues player could be handed a start against the Owls.
