Everton Exclusive: Campbell hails Allan’s performances after return from injury
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has hailed Allan’s quality after he made a strong return from injury as Everton beat Southampton 1-0.
The Brazilian was in from the start last Monday and Blues fans were immediately reminded of the quality possessed by the midfielder who had been out since December.
Campbell insists Allan’s time on the sidelines has given him time to recover after a hectic but impressive start to life at Goodison Park.
“He’s been brought in for a specific reason, everyone knows he’s quality,” Campbell told Goodison News.
“He’s had an injury and it’s a thing that’s given him a bit of time to rejuvenate. We all know how good he is, don’t we?
“We’ve seen him do the business in the Champions League. He turned up for Everton against Southampton. Him being back is good news.”
Allan can certainly be classed as a shrewd bit of business from the club in the same vein as the capture of James Rodriguez.
Both players add another dimension to our side and Carlo Ancelotti must be ecstatic that a player who is so important is finally back from injury.
It was no coincidence that we kept a clean sheet against the Saints with Allan screening our defence.
We’ve missed him and from the looks of it, he’s missed playing as his stats were very impressive on Monday.
According to Wyscout, Allan won 88% of his defensive duels against the Saints and 75% of his total actions were successful which is a very solid return for a player returning from injury.
Hopefully Allan only gets better over the next few weeks and he can help us secure a top-four finish.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are interested in making a move for Stuttgart winger Silas Wamangituka this summer.
