Kevin Campbell predicts Everton will lose in clash v Arsenal

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell predicts yet another Premier League defeat for Everton when they face Arsenal at the Emirates tonight.

The Toffees have now gone five games in a row without victory in the Premier League, losing to Chelsea and Burnley, then drawing with Crystal Palace, Brighton and Tottenham.

Arsenal are on a strange run of their own, having scraped a draw with Fulham with a goal in the dying seconds of the game last week.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News ahead of the game, Campbell conceded that it would be a tough result to call, but erred on the side of Arsenal nonetheless.

Campbell said: “Which Arsenal are going to turn up? Which Everton are going to turn up?

“Everton are above Arsenal in the table, and they’ve had a better league campaign, so Everton should be favourites, realistically.

“But again if Arsenal perform like they did against Fulham, Everton are going to beat them.

“I don’t think Arsenal will perform that way in this game though. Everton’s record at the Emirates isn’t great, and really I can only go on history. Arsenal tend to win by the odd goal, and I think they’ll win the game 2-1.

“But it wouldn’t surprise me if Everton turned them over either.”

Everton are facing more and more pressure to pick up points as the race for European places continues to heat up.

The Toffees won’t have many more opportunities to climb the table and establish themselves in the top seven, but they must do so if they want European football at Goodison park next season.

After a strong performance against Spurs, the Toffees must keep their momentum up if they still harbour a slim chance of qualifying.
