Kevin Campbell praises ‘good goalkeeper’ Romero amid Everton links
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell believes that Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero could be a good signing for Everton this summer.
The Argentina international was a target for the Toffees last summer, however the club ended up signing Robin Olsen instead after United blocked an exit for their fourth-choice ‘keeper.
Last month it was reported by Mail Online that Romero still hoped to make a switch to Goodison Park, with the 34-year old set to leave Old Trafford following the expiry of his contract.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell praised the former Sampdoria shot-stopper while suggesting that Carlo Ancelotti has some decisions to make this summer.
Campbell said: “I just think that Carlo Ancelotti has got a few decisions to make and I’m not sure what he’s thinking, but Romero is a good goalkeeper.
“Whether it’s right to bring him in now, I don’t know, only the manager and his team could tell you that, but he is definitely a good goalkeeper.”

Once described by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as “brilliant” and a “top professional”, Romero could be everything Everton need to bolster their shot-stopping options.
Robin Olsen’s future remains up in the air after his personal ordeal in March, and if he doesn’t sign for the Blues on a permanent basis then Ancelotti will need to source a replacement.
Romero is a competent professional and a solid Premier League goalkeeper who can both challenge and support Jordan Pickford, and on a free transfer the club couldn’t hope to land someone better.
