Everton handed huge boost after Palace cool interest in Nuno - Report

Everton could reignite their interest in Nuno Espirito Santo as Crystal Palace have now cooled their interest in the manager, according to Sami Mokbel.

The London club looked like they had stolen a march ahead of Everton, who at one point, looked favourites to get the former Wolves boss.

However, The Daily Mail reporter has now tweeted saying that Palace have walked away after being put off by the manager’s demands.

This could open a pathway for Everton to recommence negotiations if the hierarchy are still interested in getting the Portuguese manager to Goodison Park this summer.

Still can do better

It was a blessing in disguise that Palace were closing in on him as we deserve a manager who keeps to Goodison Park with the experience of winning trophies and also building solid squads.

Nuno failed at the former and achieved the latter at Wolves, but it’s worth noting that it was down to Jorge Mendes’ influence at Molineux that saw them sign Champions League level players in the Championship.

The first season they came up, they played a style of football that was dull, to say the least, but got the results, and Nuno was duly praised for it.

However, this past season, after Raul Jimenez suffered a long-term injury, Wolves couldn’t do anything and succumbed to an embarrassing mid-table finish.

Even when Jimenez was fit, they weren’t firing on all cylinders, exposing Nuno’s limitations at the helm.

Recent reports from BeFoot have strongly linked us with Ligue 1 winning former Lille boss Christophe Galtier and he has our endorsement for the Everton job.

He’s proven to be a manager who’s worked miracles with limited tools, unlike Nuno who had an array of riches at Wolves.

Galtier was closing in on the Nice job, but he could be tempted to changing his mind should Everton match his demands.
