Everton assistant coach Duncan Ferguson may part ways with the club if Nuno Espirito Santo takes over the helm at Goodison Park, according to a report in The Daily Mirror.

Good move for both parties

Big Dunc may have wanted the job, but we knew that the board would go for someone with managerial experience in the Premier League or one of Europe’s top five leagues.

For him to be the number one, he possibly will have to venture away from Merseyside and take over the position at another club, polish his skills and then, in a few years, knock on Everton’s door.

He’s undoubtedly a charismatic personality whose energy would be infectious wherever he manages.

Also, with Nuno coming in and bringing his coaches through the door, Ferguson’s impact on proceedings would reduce as the Portuguese would mainly listen to his men rather than Big Dunc.

If the past is any indicator, Ferguson is capable enough of guiding a team from the sidelines, and wouldn’t it be for his love of the club, he would’ve left to pursue his managerial ambitions long ago.

A much as we hate to say it, it could be better if Big Dunc left as he’s got to look out for himself and if he doesn’t want his career to stagnate, a move away from Goodison Park may be in his best interests.
