Kevin Campbell: Nuno Espirito Santo will be good appointment for Everton

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Nuno Espirito Santo would be a “good appointment” to be the next Everton manager, according to Kevin Campbell.

The Telegraph reported last week that a deal for Nuno to succeed Carlo Ancelotti in charge at Goodison Park was close to completion with terms agreed in principle.

While it has been a few days since that update and no official announcement has been made on Nuno’s arrival at Everton, we managed to speak to ex-Blues striker Campbell about the reportedly imminent appointment.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said: “Nuno’s proven he can be a really good manager in the Premier League.

He knows the Premier League and his teams are very competitive, which is all you can really ask for as an ex-Everton player.

Everton being competitive is key, that’s what you want your team to be.

Nuno can do that and he’ll have them set up right, he knows what he’s doing in that sense.

I think it’ll be a good appointment.”

Nuno had great success in his stint in charge of Wolves.

Not only did he win promotion from the Championship but he also took the Midlands club to the Europa League.

While Nuno’s success at Molineux can be watered down slightly by the club’s mega-rich Chinese owners and the links to superagent Jorge Mendes, it’s not as though that’s not something Nuno won’t have at Goodison Park.

Mendes is still Nuno’s agent and Everton do have owners who are willing to invest vast sums of money in the squad.

He could be a good fit.

In other Everton news, Farhad Moshiri is still open to hiring this manager instead of Nuno.
