Benitez back in contention for Everton job as Nuno deal stalls
Rafa Benitez has emerged back in contention for the Everton job while a deal to hire Nuno Espirito Santo has stalled, according to talkSPORT.
The broadcaster reports on their website that despite a potential “backlash” from Evertonians, Farhad Moshiri is “open” to hiring Benitez, even though he’s revered by Liverpool fans for his past spell at Anfield.
It is understood Everton held advanced talks with ex-Wolves boss Nuno last week but they are yet to finalise a deal for him.
What Moshiri wants…
It will be interesting to find out why a deal hasn’t concluded for Nuno yet but if Moshiri really does want Benitez then we can see the Toffees changing their minds and going in for the ex-Liverpool boss.
However, we have an inkling that this story from talkSPORT could have been leaked from one of the parties so that a deal gets hurried along.

Let’s say Everton want Nuno to drop one of his demands or agree to a smaller deal in terms of money, this report about Benitez could have been put out to worry Nuno into baulking to the Merseyside club’s demands.
That’s something that could be the case while it also wouldn’t be a shock to see that it is the truth because Benitez is a top manager.
Let’s forget about his Liverpool past for a moment and realise this is a manager who has won titles in European leagues as well as the Champions League itself.
He’d be a good fit for us.
