Everton set to offer new deal to Nathan Broadhead – The Athletic

According to The Athletic, Everton will soon announce a new two-year deal for 23-year-old striker Nathan Broadhead who made just one appearance this past season.

Per the Liverpool Echo, Broadhead was expected to depart on a free at the end of this month as his contract at Goodison Park runs out on June 30.

However, in a turn of events, Broadhead has done enough in the Premier League 2 to ensure that his short-term future lies on Merseyside.

Welcome news

It’s always nice to see youngsters who’ve come up the ranks to be given a chance with the senior team.

Carlo Ancelotti may not be the manager anymore but is said to have been impressed with the 23-year-old’s performances.

He even brought him off the bench in April to give him a few minutes in the Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Broadhead is quick, versatile and has a willingness to learn. He’s capable of playing in any position across the front line and could be a vital player to have in reserve.

He’s also expected to travel with the team for the pre-season camp, so that will only increase his chances of being in and around the first-team picture next season.

For a player who looked to be on his way out a few months ago, Broadhead will be happy to be granted a second chance at his boyhood club.

Whether or not the new manager opts to loan him out is anyone’s guess.

According to The Liverpool Echo, the club had plans last summer to loan out the attacker, but they couldn’t get any suitors and he plied his trade with the U-23s this season, scoring 11 goals in 18 Premier League 2 appearances.

We’re not sure how this one will transpire, but if he has been specially recommended by Ancelotti’s staff, there must be something to him and we’re hoping he comes good for us sooner rather than later.
